“MCOM 2302: Communication Policy: Institutions and Practices.” (Winter 2005 and 2007)
—— This course is designed to introduce students to a number of communication policy areas, including the communication policy of the government (how the government communicates with citizens) and the governance of communication (how the government regulates communication technologies and practices). Students are introduced to key policies, institutions, and issues relevant to the selected policy areas. Topics covered include the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, government communication policy, access to information and privacy, copyright, telecommunications policy, broadcasting policy, regulation of the Internet, censorship, and multiculturalism policy.
